Title
Functional characterization of microglia in Parkinson's disease - roles of Foxo3
Project Summary
Parkinson's disease (PD) is characterized by chronic inflammation. A central role for microglia, the brain's resident cells, has been demonstrated in the establishment of this neuroinflammation. Foxo3-deficient mice are less sensitive to MPTP intoxication (the neurotoxin that induces the pathology). We are therefore studying the influence of Foxo3 on microglial functions in neuroinflammatory processes during PD.
